is a belief in oneself, the conviction that one has the ability to meet life's challenges and to succeed—and the willingness to act accordingly. Being confident requires a realistic sense of one's capabilities and feeling secure in that knowledge. - Psychology Today
Confidence gives us power to act more courageous, because we know that most like we can do the task at hand.
So what can we do to increase our confidence? Let me share with you several powerful tips.
1. Think like a champion
Positive self talk is very powerful. What we tell ourselves can either empower or destroy us. Practice telling yourself positive affirmations like:
"I trust my talent. I trust my training. I trust my skills. I trust my perseverance. I belong here. I can do this! I am a champion."
2. Feel like a champion
Create your own reality in your mind. Visualize your happy place, your best performance moment, that made you feel successful and relive that moment over and over again to bring up those "feel good" vibes to present. For your mind there's no difference between what is actually happening and what's going on in your imagination.
3. Act like a champion
Posture plays a big role in confidence - if we move freely, with a big smile on our face that gives a brain signal that we are successful and know what we are doing. Watch how your role models carry themselves, how they move and try to mimic their body language.
4. Reflect on your past successes
Write down all your personal victories and past successes in your journal. Never minimize your successes. Remember what you did to get to your successful moments and know that you can do it again, because you already know how.
5. Think about all the compliments others paid you and your abilities
Remember all good thing that you have ever heard about yourself from your friends, coaches, teammates and other people. Believe that everything they said is true. Feel good about yourself.
6. Get psyched up, rather than psyched down
When you see someone else reaching the goal you want to achieve, tell yourself that they are showing you what's possible. If someone can do it, you definitely can do it too.
7. Build a positive self image
All successful people always hold a positive image of who they are and who they want to be. If something doesn't go as good as you thought it would go, tell yourself: it's not like me, this is not my performance, I know I can do better, I just need a little course correction and everything will go well again.
