How to complete a famous fire walk

Let me tell you about my experience of attending the famous Tony Robbins seminar UNLEASH POWER WITHIN (UPW), on November 3-6, 2022 in Florida. It was such a mind-blowing experience, 4 days of total immersion with Tony Robbins himself, as well as Joseph McClendon III, Siri Lindley, Nick Santonastasso, Pitbull, and a few other incredible speakers.

Now it might be enough about the overall event information, so I better start sharing my experience of fire walking. So let me start then...

A fire walk is scheduled to be completed at the end of the first day of the event. Before completing the fire walk Tony Robbins provides roughly about 2-3 hours of training. The training includes deep relaxation experience, visualization, work with fear, instructions, and other things.

The main idea behind completing a fire walk is to work with fear, meaning not to engage with fear, resist it or get stopped by it, and rather dance with it. We all know that the more we let fear overcome us, the. fewer things we can achieve, the less confident we are in our actions. On the other hand, when we know how to use fear as fuel to get after our dreams, we usually succeed.

The process of walking on hot coals was completed outside of the convention center in complete darkness and it was not allowed to use cameras with flashlights, because it can get participants out of peak state, and being in a positive peak state is one of the important components of successful completion of the fire walking. In the darkness, there was music playing and the Tony Robbins crew was helping all the participants.

The instructions for successful completion go the fire walk is being in the positive peak state, focus the feeling of celebration after completing a firewall, keep saying the mantra over and over again while walking on hot coals, look up instead of down because once you see the hot coals you can burn your feet.

I was scared for a few moments when I saw that hot coals were added to my line, but I did have a choice to step back because many people were behind me, as well as I had a choice to get back to my old behavior and got scared or become a victor and celebrate my new win. I chose to "dance with fear" and use it as my fuel to become stronger. When I walked on hot coals I was following all the instructions and before I knew it I was already done with the fire walk and was a celebration unbelievable thing I have just completed.

The feeling after completing a fire walk on hot coals is just so mild blowing because I realized I had just done something impossible for me. The impossible can become possible. Facing fear and acting in any way makes us stronger. The firewalk becomes a metaphor.

Now after I am back home and back to my daily routine and marathon training I use my fire walking experience as fuel on my hard training and work days. When I feel it is too cold, too hard, or anything else, I just bring up the memory of my fire walking on hot coals and nothing seems impossible. I have also learned that focus is something extremely important in everything that we do. We get more of what we focus on.

In every situation I ask myself questions:

  • can I change this or influence this?

  • is this within my control?

  • what result do I want to get?

  • what do I need to focus on to get the results I want?

  • what can help me in this situation?

Overall, I feel so much braver and more in control over my life after completing the fire walk and UPW. An experience for people who want to get better results in life and start winning in their daily life.
