Why people afraid to start running?


Many of you had a thought about starting running, but it probably scared you and you gave up on it. What are the challenges that people are facing with running?


I can't run even a mile, running is hard. Oftentimes when we start running we are going way too fast. Therefore we are out of breath, becoming red and may have a side stitches. We associate running with something fast and we don't allow ourselves being slow. First of all, everything requires time. We have to teach our body how to run and how to behave in a new activity. In learning process you don't have to be fast, the most important is to start enjoying the process. Once you got comfortable with running at least 40 minutes in comfortable conversation pace, you can introduce speed if you want to.


I can't run because I don't have talent for it. Running doesn't have to have a talent, that a skill that you can learn. Running can be enjoyable cardio activity.


I am not fast, I can't win anything. It is not always about winning. You can also compete with yourself and become a "better you" with the time.


Running will ruin my joints. It is very important to have appropriate running shoes because while running we put impact equals about almost 4 times of our body mass.
