“It’s not surprising that we prefer being told what we can (and can’t) do, rather than face the risks of creating ourselves and our own experience.” — Benjamin Hardy
Oftentimes we tend to trust limiting beliefs and opinions of others, instead of trying to apply an effort in reaching our goals.
I used to be a person who before starting anything new, would share with friends and ask their opinions first. It is scary to do first step towards unknown. As result, people tend to share their negative experience or information that they heard somewhere. That usually would stop me from taking an action.
I used to be a person with sedentary lifestyle, who loved eating a lot and didn’t like to exercise. At some point I gained a lot of weight and I had to do something about it. I hated running so much, but I decided to give it a chance, despite all the naysayers, who shared with me lots of unhelpful information about why I shouldn’t even try running.
After few years of training from zero, I became not just a runner, but marathoner, who qualified for Boston Marathon and successfully finished it in April 2019.
At first in my imagination non of that was possible, but I decided to give it a try and I succeeded in it. If I wouldn’t try it, I wouldn’t become a marathoner.
When you set big goals, it is more likely you achieve big goals rather than setting small comfortable goals that don’t lead to big changes.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right.”― Henry Ford
Whether you can reach your goal or cannot a lot depends on what you believe in. If your think that certain thing is not achievable, your mind will find all the possible reasons why you can’t. But if you consider a possibility of achieving your goal, the mind will look for opportunities to make it happen.
When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. — Paulo Coelho
