Improve your life by starting journaling

Few years ago I have discovered the magic power of journaling. I started from little - just by writing morning greeting to myself and writing down things and experiences in my life I am grateful for. Even those little steps started changing the way I was feeling every day. Now I am constantly journaling on daily basis and would like to share with you several tips on how to journal and how it can help you.

"The act of writing accesses your left brain, which is analytical and rational. While your left brain is occupied, your right brain is free to create, intuit and feel. In sum, writing removes mental blocks and allows you to use all of your brainpower to better understand yourself, others and the world around you." - The Health Benefits of Journaling By MAUD PURCELL, LCSW, CEAP

This is how you can start your journal to start feeling powerful and hopeful:

  1. Start your journal with your FUTURE SELF. Take a time for dreaming. On first page of your journal describe your FUTURE SELF in details. What you future self look like? Where she/he lives? How do they feel? How much money do they have? What car do they drive? What work do they do? What are the values of your future self? What is surrounding like? Who are their best friend? How the perfect day look like?

  2. Write down your personal wins and accomplishments during last 30 days.

  3. Where are you now and what do you have now?

  4. What do you want to accomplish in 1 year?

  5. Where do you want to be and what do you want to achieve in next 30 days?

Here is an example of my daily journal structure:

  • greetings, affirmations - set up the mood for a good day

  • gratitude for what I have - when we are grateful for what we have, new good things coming our way

  • what do I want to achieve, what are my desires - to get a hope, excitement, focus, to activate selective attention and start attracting what I want to my life

  • top 3 things that I want to do or achieve today - give the day a structure and focus

  • my wins for the day and top 3 for next day (before the bed) - knowing what you want to do next day makes it easier in the morning, you wake up with purpose

In addition, when you feel that some life situation is stressing you out, it is very helpful to write it down, because it give you an outside perspective of the situation. After writing it down you may find solution and the whole situation may even stat looking ridiculous or not as important as it initially seemed.

Journaling increases creativity, brings more clarity, improve the ability to emotionally cope with different situations and can help in decision-making process.

Journaling is an incredible tool that is available to everyone now. Use it to upgrade your quality of life and the way you feel, give yourself a hope. Dream big, because you can!
