Running performance is like a roller coaster. Often it goes up and down unexpectedly. Running can not be always perfect, but there are ways to reduce and reverse declining performance.
Do those 10 things to get back on track:
Take a day (or 2) off or take several easy days (maybe even a week). One of the reasons of declining performance can be high intensity or too much weekly mileage. So taking a rest (better active recovery) can be very helpful.
Reach out to a friend, coach or likeminded community of people for support, help and motivation,
Go see your massage therapist to release tension in your muscles and general stress relief.
Find some new beautiful running routes (not hilly).
If you decided to go with easy days, make sure to keep them easy (only conversational pace and shorter runs).
Do yoga for runners, stretch, foam roll.
Take epsom salt bath for 15-20 minutes in warm water.
Get a good night sleep, go to bed earlier, take an extra nap during the day.
Eat nutrient rich food and stay well hydrated (especially on altitude and in paces with high heat and humidity. Electrolytes play very important role in running performance.
Meditate, visualize being successful in running, do breathing exersices.
